Wednesday night Adam and I went to Babies R Us and we purchased an extra tall and extra long bed rail for Owen's twin bed. (I am of the opinion that toddler beds are a waste of money and since kids end up in a twin bed, usually, after the toddler bed, why not just put the kid into a twin bed? You save on having to buy another crib mattress along with the toddler bed, which ain't cheap.) I washed sheets, put the new bumper on the crib, raised the crib mattress up to the infant height, and, when she was ready, put Caroline down for her nap.
After struggling through the very poorly written directions, and unclear pictures, I put the bed rail together. Owen was exhausted by this time after getting up extra early (7:00 a.m.) yesterday morning. I put him down for his nap in his "big boy bed" and although he cried, (I think because he was overtired) it was a success!
I thought for sure that Adam would have a tough time putting Owen in his "big boy bed" because Owen would cry, much like he did with me. Adam said Owen was so tired that he basically fell asleep in Adam's arms. Once Adam laid him down on the bed, he was out for the night! He stayed in his bed all night and when he woke up, he didn't cry, he didn't try to get out, rather just laid there and waited for me to come get him. (He did this while sleeping in the crib too. It wasn't until just recently, that after I dropped the side of the crib, that Owen would try and climb out of the crib).
I now have my 20 1/2 month old son in his bed and my 5 1/2 month old daughter in her crib. I couldn't be happier about everybody being in their proper and respective sleeping arrangements!
