Déja vu number 2, you ask. Yes. Déja vu number 1 was about the weather. (See post "I'm Melting! I'm Melting" for a refresher.) When we left Idaho, we were traveling home with 1 sick kid, Owen had croup, and Cari was well on her way to getting sick. Well, déja vu number 2 has struck. Yesserie indeedie do. Owen has another cold, as does Cari. Once again, I've been dumping Infant Robitussin, Motrin Cold, Mucinex, an occasional shot of Benadryl, or anything else I can get my hands on, down Owen's mouth. Cari, well, not much I can do for her, which just bites! So, after I got home last night - had a girls' night out with my sister-in-law, Kristen - I gave Cari something to eat and then put her down. Oh yeah, by the time I got her settled down and in bed, it was close to 1:00 a.m.!
The next thing I knew at about 1:40 I was up with Cari slurping out her nose because she couldn't breathe. Back to sleep for us; at least until 3:15 when I was up again slurping her nose out a second time. Back to sleep for us. But, this time Cari wouldn't settle down, so I let her sleep on me for the next 4 hours. It helped her breathe since her head was elevated slightly. I put her back down in her own crib at about 7 and fell back to sleep for the next hour when she was awake and hungry. She's now starring at the TV show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which sadly is coming to an end. Wait a minute, I'm in luck! A second episode is coming on.
Owen is eating his waffle, while trying to breathe at the same time. It's basically the only thing he's eaten in about 36 hours. He turned his nose up to chocolate chip pancakes from Mimi's yesterday. So, I am pleased to see him eat this waffle this morning. Actually, he's now asking for waffle number 2! Hopefully, he'll eat this one, too. Down the hatch with his medicine and here we go with our day up and running.
I think tomorrow before we depart for our road trip back to Arizona, I'm going to give each kid a shot of Benadryl. Maybe (hopefully, please oh please) they'll sleep in the car. Here's to hoping!
