What are the chances that both times I've left Arizona this summer I have traveled to 2 different destinations that are having record heat! C'mon already. I'm trying to get OUT of the heat, not go to hot (and sometimes hotter) weather.
This past weekend here in California it has been record heat, the worst weather in 25+ years. Un-freakin'-believable. It seems I can't catch a weather break. So, what does anyone do while in Southern California and it's hot....we go to the beach.
Saturday morning we got up somewhat early and went to the beach. It was great. I remember what I miss the most (and probably the only thing excluding family of course) about living in California, the weekend spent at the beach. I love the beach! I love to hear the ocean, see the water, and smell the breezes. (If I can figure out how to work my parents' Mac, then I'll post some pictures.)
Owen was scared of the ocean, I think because the water was so cold. When he finally worked up the courage to walk into the water, as a wave was going back out, he carried Owen with it and he did a face plant into the water. Adam grabbed him, but of course Owen was crying. From the face plant, Owen had sand in his ears, mouth, in his swimming suit, diaper, under his swim shirt, EVERYWHERE! It was a fun time, regardless of the parking ticket we got. We missed the time by a mere 15 minutes and came back to our car with a $47 "meter expired" ticket. It was a bummer, but we had a good time.
