"A Hunting We Will Go"

Saturday night I decided to do a new tradition with Owen. I had him help me dye Easter eggs. I only remember doing this once as a child and I want him to do it with me. I'll have Cari do it next year too. We dyed the eggs and had some a good time.

Sunday morning we got up and got ready for church. I got a new outfit from Kohl's. Adam got a new tie and Owen got a new shirt. Caroline's dress has been recycled from about 7 years ago. (Quick story: when Adam and I got married, my niece, Gurrie, was approximately the age that Caroline is now. The dress that Gurrie wore for our wedding was in excellent condition thanks to my sister-in-law, and she handed that dress down to Caroline. It fit her perfectly! So her outfit was free. Gotta love that.) Although Caroline looked adorable in her dress, I am even more sure of my opinion that big puffy dresses are so not worth the money or trouble to put little girls in to wear. Unless there is an extraordinary occasion for them to be worn, like a wedding, they're just not worth it. Caroline really did look cute though.

After church, naps, and dinner, the Easter Bunny went and hid the eggs in the backyard for the kiddos to find (there were only 3 kiddos, aged 2 and two 1 year olds). We did let Owen open up the family Easter basket when he came downstairs that morning.

My dad, make that the Easter Bunny, always finds clever places to hide eggs, whether it be inside or out. (In years past, my dad would do an egg hunt inside the house and just use the foil wrapped eggs for us kids and the older grandkids. It works great!) We turned the kiddos loose and Owen had a great time, as did "E" and Cari. They each found eggs and cracked them open to see what was inside. It was a lot of fun and a great day for everyone.
