Like any mom, I am particular when it comes to the kind of diapers I put on my kids. I don't like Huggies, they seemed to leak the worst (which is ironic as I will explain later), LOVE Pampers Swaddlers, not crazy about Pampers Baby Dry or Cruisers, haven't tried Luvs, or the various Wal-Mart or Target brands. I REFUSE to do cloth diapers.
I know that all diapers have there maximum liquid retention level and if not changed will leak. I get that. However, I just don't like the absorbing gel that Pampers uses. My kids are definite stomach sleepers (thank heavens - as I am of the opinion that babies sleep best on their tummies. That's my opinion and I don't care what the AAP says.) When I would go in to get them in the morning after sleeping all night long, it was obvious they peed through their jammies, onto the sheets, etc. As usual, the gel pellets would be all over their tummies, legs and every other nook and cranny. More laundry for me to do, not to mention a bath for the kid as the gel pellets don't just wipe off.
In fact, Caroline would pee through her jammies and onto the sheets almost every single morning. It got to the point where I was calling her my "peeball princess" in the morning because she would be soaked with pee! I never had to do the full bath routine in the morning with her, but several times I had to with Owen. The gel pellets were EVERYWHERE, even into the feet of his jammies!
When Owen was younger, I just couldn't find a diaper that I really liked. My younger sister, Mindy, has a son 9 days older than Owen and she was going to try the Kirkland (Costco) brand and let me know what she thought of that diaper. We both had heard some good and bad things about them. In the end, she did try them and she couldn't tell a difference. So, I decided to try them for myself. Boy am I glad I did! I will definitely not go back to using the Pampers Baby Dry or Cruisers. Does this mean that the leaks have magically stopped all together? No. But, they are much farther and fewer in between.
It is ironic that I prefer the Kirkland brand over Pampers and especially Huggies because I do believe the Kirkland brand is made by Huggies. (I could be wrong, so please let me know if I am.) I was excited to see a little while back that Costco has now started carrying the sizes 1-2 through 5 and not just sizes 3 through 5. They are fairly reasonably priced for the allotment that you get. I think it's about 17 cents per diaper. For me, that's a deal worth paying for, especially when it holds up (pun intended) to my kids.

WOW! you really did some research. i HATED pampers for the same reasons you don't love them and huggies just ALWAYS were wet on the outside. i loved luvs they were my absolute fave and worked for us. i used kirkland and liked them but wasn'r 100% sold on them (not sure why???) i'm glad you finaly found what works best for your kids. :)
I love Kirkland too. Huggies and Kirkland are both made by the same company we actually have a friend who oversees the people who make the diapers. They are made with the excat same materials and everything. I like them both and trade off whatever is on sale...You'd be surprised how many other brands are made by them too. White Cloud for example. Those are the defect diapers that they sale for a cheaper price. They may have used too much or too little "Stuffing" in them or the tabs might be crooked or something like that. Don't get me wrong they are dfferent but they are just made by the same company...Anyway I totally went through the diaper dilema too, I'm glad you found what works.
DDW baby gets a rash from pampers - I figured it was the gel in the diaper, but I had no idea the pellets could come out! I have had him in huggies ever since and he doesn't have any skin problems anymore. A friend of mine recommended using the overnite diapers for over night so I switched, and I haven't had a leak problem at night since. I know kirtland is the same, but I was so nervous to switch brands after he broke out from the pampers. It was weird the swadlers were find, but the larger diapers gave him a rash.
